The 2022 series event starts at Oxley on Friday 4th February and runs to December 2022 across the 3 clubs. The GM’s from the 3 clubs, Frank McCarthy (Gailes), Frank Byrne (Wolston Park) and James King (Oxley) were very pleased with the result and look forward to seeing even more competitors grace their fairways to test themselves in their Blackmarker Events each month in 2022 as the event continues to gain traction.
The Asahi Schweppes 2021 Western Suburbs Challenge Final was a huge success despite the current COVID restrictions. After 378 players had played across the 3 club’s Blackmarker events in the 2021 qualifying period, Carl Hedvall from Oxley was the triumphant winner with a net score of 70, 3 under par, Shane Sutton from Wolston Park ran 2nd, Laurens Hamman from Gailes 3rd. 112 players turned out to play the Dingo Hill Blackmarker Classic on the day but only the top 50 and ties from the Western Suburbs Challenge qualifying rounds were eligible for the prizes. There was a nice spread of players from a number of Brisbane clubs across the competitors on the day. The winner received a $1000 voucher from the Gailes Proshop with the WSC Trophy and qualifies for free entry to the 2022 qualifying rounds across the 3 clubs.
